Avery Healthcare has delivered over 1,500 cakes to charities that provide comfort and support to vulnerable people facing homelessness and isolation across the UK.

This generous donation was part of Cake4Kindness Day, an annual event organised by the charity Cake4Kindness, held on Thursday 21st November.

The initiative brings communities together to bake and share cakes, helping alleviate social isolation and support local charities.

Avery care homes across the country united in a nationwide effort to spread kindness, donating baked goods to charities such as The Salvation Army, Homeless Street Angels, The Good Shepherd Hospice, The Light Project, The Purfleet Trust and many more. From Aire View Care Home in Leeds to Southampton Manor Care Home in Southampton, their cakes brought joy to communities nationwide.

In total, 1,553 cakes were donated from over 20 care homes, with standout contributions of 306 cakes from Bourn View Care Home, in Birmingham, who donated their sweet treats to the Salvation Army Homeless Shelter.

Fionavaal Sewera, Home Manager at Bourn View Care Home, said, “Cake4kindness day was a fantastic initiative. It really brought our team, residents, and community together, and delivering the cakes to The Salvation Army was so heartwarming. A big thank you to our amazing staff for making it such a special day.”

Avery’s second-largest donation came from Elstree View Care Home, in Elstree, who donated an incredible 250 cakes to Gratitude Food Bank Borehamwood.

“We took on the challenge to make, decorate, and donate cakes for Cake4Kindness, and our amazing Chef, Activity Team, and residents were thrilled to get involved with such a wonderful cause,” said Kate Lester, Home Manager at Elstree View Care Home.
Kate continued, “It was lovely to see everyone take part and decorate the cakes with such care. It was a great opportunity for us to give back to our local community, strengthen relationships, and help create a more inclusive, kind, and supportive environment.”
Neel Radia, Founder of Cake4Kindness, said: “We’re so grateful to Avery Healthcare for joining us this year and spreading kindness to those who need it most. It’s a simple yet powerful way to bring joy.”
Hannah Mulholland, Director of Customer Experience and Well-Being at Avery Healthcare, also commented: “It’s been an amazing experience to see so many of our teams come together for Cake4Kindness Day.”
“The 1,533 cakes delivered to local charities is a real testament to the generosity of our staff and residents. I’m proud of everyone involved, and we can’t wait to continue this wonderful tradition in the years to come.”
