The VJ Technology Group, a UK leading distributor of fixings, fasteners and building consumables to the construction and infrastructure sector, has announced that its VJ iStore® onsite procurement solution has saved over 24.7 tonnes of CO2e – a reduction of 70% carbon emissions - in the past 12 months.
There are now over 30 VJ iStore® containers at construction sites across the UK and the Group has announced that, in order to meet increasing demand, it has placed an order for another 200 licences from its software subsidiary Sellfware Technology for its core proprietary fulfilment platform Opus which powers the solution and has recently received a patent. The significant reduction in carbon emissions is due to the solution limiting the number of deliveries needed to the construction sites with products held on site.
The VJ iStore® allows VJ Technology to optimise its supply chain, providing 24/7 access to products in forward stock locations, thus eliminating delays and increased costs due to warehouses being too far from where the stock is needed. It provides an alternative to providing daily replenishment to offices, lockers and engineers’ homes reducing carbon emissions. It has been designed to reduce costs, improve cashflow and productivity for organisations, whilst limiting the impact of deliveries on the environment.
Andrew Mobbs, CEO at VJT Group, said: “At VJT we are committed to using innovation and technology to bring supply chain value to customers and Opus and the iStore enables this. This significant deal underlines our commitment to the iStore and reflects the high levels of customer demand we have in the pipeline for our innovative solution.”
Mark Petit, COO at Sellfware said: “In addition to powering the VJ iStore®, Opus has also been further developed as an autonomous product management platform including secure access with complete control and security of inventory remotely with robust security measures, which gives companies the ability to provide onsite, 24/7 access to essential items. It can be used to transform existing on-site stores, or power stand-alone, staff-less mini warehouses with intelligent stock control, multi-point security and a click-and-collect web ordering system to ensure staff and contractors have the supplies.
“It has been designed to boost operational efficiency and reduce downtime and provides key benefits to a range of sectors such as Construction, FM, Aviation and Aerospace, Manufacturing, 3PL Logistics, Field Services, Self-Storage and Retail.”
